What do you think was the most horrific aspect of the cross for Jesus? The pain of the cross? 1 Peter 3:18 says that Jesus suffered for our sins. Or the pain of separation from the Father? The garden of Gethsemene certainly suggests this was at least significant. I wonder whether we can over emphasise the pain of the event of crucifixion while underplaying the pain of being deserted by everyone including his Father

Is 'Live Crucifixion' an oxymoron? This whole question of the greatest pain coming from separation in a perfect relationship, rather than the physical agony, came up in scripture this morning. mel Gibson's 'The Passion' really did a diservice to the truth.
